When I recieved my cultural access pass the first thing I decided to do was to go to the Montreal Pointe a Calliere.  Its an insitu history museum, meaning the building is created and designed around an important site.  The site is reminents of various old important buildings in Montreal.

I spent 8 years wondering what was inside of it.  It's an odd shape, a sort of rounded triangle located in the old port of Montreal near the Montreal Science Center.  I've gone twice with my CAP thus far.  It's actually one of the best museums in Montreal.  You typically start your tour with a movie.  The movie is really well done....with lights flashing over the archeological crypts.  It explains the history of Montreal in 20 minutes.

You then walk down circular staircase to go see what the crypts look like.  There are no human remains because these are archeological crypts which are focused more on the history of human settlements than say burial crypts.  There is an old grave site but the human remains have been removed.

The crypt area contains a lot of information on the history of Montreal.  I think you could easily spend half a day going through that exhibit.  They had a special exhibit on teas and another on the Beatles when I went, but the special exhibits change seasonally.  The beatles exhibit I found hysterical.   I didn't take too many pictures of it, as I am not a fan.
